The MEDscience Teacher role is a position for a who is eager to learn and teach high school students in our unique, student-centered pedagogy. In this role, the teacher will co-teach 3-4 classes per day and will have various administrative and technical responsibilities to support the organization. The teacher will be trained in MEDscience's immersive, student-centered pedagogy and must develop a clear understanding of MEDscience's curriculum and teaching method. MEDscience works with students from a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels and the Teacher must be able to adapt to meet the interests and learning styles of students, while cultivating a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. This individual must be a team player who excels in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly interactive environment and who is looking to grow as a teacher and work with students from a wide variety of backgrounds. This position will directly support the work that advances the goals and vision of HMS MEDscience (http://hmsmedscience.org/mission ). This team member will work effectively within a culture inclusive of individuals across a wide range of backgrounds, styles, abilities, and motivations, and appreciate and leverage the capabilities, insights, and ideas of all individuals. This role will focus primarily on MEDscience's clinical program, but may have the opportunity to teach other program areas (including laboratory science, forensic science, and biomedical engineering) over time. Physical Requirements: Must be able to teach 3-4 sessions (75 minutes/session) each day. Requires set-up and breakdown of simulation and clinical skills equipment, which can include lifting and carrying objects of moderate weight. This can provide valuable insight into your experience and interest in the role. Basic Qualifications: Three or more years of related experience. Education may count toward experience. Additional Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor’s degree preferred. College-level understanding of biology and anatomy and physiology. Must be flexible and have strong project management skills to effectively handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines. Must possess sound judgement and know when to elevate issues to organization’s senior leadership. Experience in or open to training on the following lab techniques: ELISA, PCR, gel electrophoresis. Ability to teach in Spanish preferred.
