Research Scientist

Deft-ai is seeking a Research Scientist to join their team in San Francisco. The role involves designing and developing software for robot autonomy, focusing on capabilities such as grasping and dexterous behaviors in unstructured environments. Candidates will research and implement advanced robot learning policies, including techniques based on reinforcement and imitation learning. The position requires building a high-speed software stack optimized for performance and maintaining data collection pipelines for production robot fleets. Applicants should hold a PhD or MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field, along with at least three years of experience in developing and deploying machine learning systems. Proficiency in machine learning frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow is essential. The role is suited for individuals with a strong background in real-time ML inference systems and those who have authored publications in relevant fields. This is a full-time position based in the office.
