Junior Accountant

lastminute.com is looking for a Junior Accountant for its Accountancy team based in Chiasso. The person, reporting to the Swiss Finance Manager, will contribute to the accounting closing of the different Swiss, Italian and UK entities of the Group and will oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying the financial transactions. What your impact will be: Reconciliation of general ledger accounts and other GL accounts Perform accounting analyses and reporting to support decision-making purposes. Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures Maintaining and reconciling fixed assets schedules Support month-end and year-end closing process Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls Ensure compliance with GAAP principles Liaise with the Finance Manager to improve financial procedures Support the finance manager in the preparation of the several annual statutory financial statements Assure tax compliance and respect of tax deadlines, with a specific focus on Italian tax legislation, VAT (IVA) compliance, and related declarations. Assist with tax audits and tax returns Interact with internal and external auditors Your expertise: Essential Certificate or Degree in Accounting/Business/Economics or in a similar field, Knowledge of Italian tax legislation, specifically regarding VAT (IVA) and related tax declarations At least 2-3 years in a similar role and/or in an audit firm Fluency in English and Italian Good Office knowledge Desirable: Experience in travel agency accounting and tax legislation Experience with Microsoft Business Central ERP software Experience in one of the big4 audit firms will be considered a plus Abilities/qualities: Excellent organizational skills Strong commitment to meeting the deadlines Strong emphasis on accuracy and detail Solid analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a team and to communicate at all levels of the organization and with colleagues of other Countries Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously Cross-cultural sensitivity, self-motivated and used to working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment Proactive mindset and confidence in leveraging Artificial Intelligence to streamline processes and enhance productivity.
