Backend Engineer

Design and implement highly scalable solutions using the best development practises and tools. Keep on top of the latest and greatest development trends in distributed systems and the cloud. Work closely with other teams (Stakeholders, Data Science, Product and UX) at Adevinta to drive product development. Be curious: experiment with new solutions yet be pragmatic and committed to code optimisation, maintainability and quality. At least 2 years of work experience in backend development. Solid understanding and ability to efficiently code in a programming language of your choice. Hands-on expertise in designing and working with operational databases (relational/document) Experience working with at least one cloud service provider (AWS/Azure/GCP). Basic knowledge of server operating systems, and networking, containerization, monitoring tools. Overall understanding of surrounding technologies. "Doer", "Builder" attitude. Having a passion to learn and improve. Being good with others. Desired skills Work experince with distributed file systems and object storage systems, such as S3/Minio, HDFS. Work experience with big-data ecosystem products, such as Apahce Hadoop, Spark, Kafka. Work experience with Kubernetes, microservices. Knowledge of Java, Scala or Go programming languages. Work experience with high-load, low-latency, data-intensive systems.
