Senior Power BI Developer / BI Engineer (Azure Databricks)

This contractor position involves designing the gold layer of a new Azure and Databricks-based data platform for an insurance company. The role focuses on building a semantic Power BI model that supports sales, campaign reporting, and customer selection processes. Day-to-day tasks include creating data marts with facts, dimensions, and reusable business KPIs in collaboration with data engineering teams. You will also develop DAX measures, relationships, hierarchies, and row-level security logic within the semantic model. Additionally, the role requires defining reporting standards, ensuring performance, and conducting tests with business stakeholders to validate accuracy. The employer seeks candidates with several years of experience in enterprise Power BI development and strong knowledge of dimensional modeling using star schemas. Familiarity with Databricks SQL and Delta Lake is required, while experience with insurance or financial metrics is considered a plus. Candidates should possess strong communication skills for interacting with business units and hold fluent German and good English language abilities. Certifications such as PL-300 or DP-600 are advantageous but not mandatory. The working arrangement is based in the Frankfurt area with an expected workload of 80 to 100 percent.
