Engineering Manager

Coram AI is hiring an Engineering Manager in Sunnyvale to lead its California engineering team. The role covers key areas of the company’s edge AI platform, cloud systems, and customer-facing product development, while staying hands-on with architecture, code review, and debugging. It suits an experienced engineer who has reached a very senior level, has managed engineers before, and has strong depth in distributed systems, robotics or AI, or HPC. The company is looking for someone with a history of hiring well, experience in a larger engineering organization, and a strong sense of ownership and impact.

THE ROLE Lead our entire California engineering team as the engineering leader for our Sunnyvale office. Your team owns critical parts of our edge AI platform, cloud infrastructure, and customer-facing engineering. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: you'll set direction and grow the team, but stay close to the code through architecture, review, and debugging. You'll start managing the engineers, growing significantly within a year as we scale 2–3x, and work directly with the CTO, CEO, and Product. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - Reached Staff / very senior IC level and spent a couple of years there before moving into management (typically after ~4–5 years engineering). - Current or prior experience managing engineers (Tech Lead Manager or Engineering Manager). - Deep strength in at least one of: distributed / real-time systems (e.g. C++), robotics / AI, or HPC. - Time inside an established top-tier engineering culture with exposure to how a 50–100+ person org operates. - A strong hiring track record and a high bar for what "great" looks like. - Still genuinely hands-on and motivated by ownership, impact, and shaping the product.
