About the role
Defense Unicorns is seeking a Data Engineer for a forward-deployed role focused on supporting U.S. government operations. In this position, you will collaborate closely with users and program engineers in Department of Defense environments to enhance the UDS Data Capability from deployment to production. Your responsibilities will include deploying and configuring data solutions, integrating various data sources, and addressing complex data challenges across interconnected systems. Familiarity with tools such as Iceberg, Rook/Ceph, pgvector, and Postgres is essential, as you will be working on data storage, ingestion, streaming, governance, and access. The role requires U.S. citizenship and is primarily remote, with occasional travel for initial setups, integration, and training as needed. Candidates should be comfortable working independently on defined problems and adapting to more complex tasks over time. This position is ideal for those who thrive in mission-critical environments and can effectively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders.
