COMPANY DESCRIPTION: Forbright is a nationwide full-service bank and commercial lender focused on helping to build a brighter future for our clients and the communities we serve. Forbright is committed to exceptional client service by providing seamless, innovative personal banking services to depositors and creative financing solutions to visionary middle market businesses and investors in healthcare, technology, financial services, real estate, and other industries. COMPANY CULTURE: We are a dynamic, high energy, fun, and fast-paced organization that has an exciting growth trajectory, meaningful mission, and embedded responsible practices into our daily interactions. We offer our team members a culture of collaboration, inclusion, flexibility, recognition, and giving back. We look to hire individuals that are passionate about our mission, and who are motivated, customer and results-oriented, innovative, adaptable, and thoughtful. COMPANY MISSION: We are a mission-driven institution. We operate a sound dynamic institution that is well capitalized, liquid, profitable and uses best practices to manage risk and assure compliance with laws and regulations. We use Forbright’s capital, capabilities, innovation, and expertise to help our clients succeed and contribute broadly to building a brighter future. JOB SUMMARY: Forbright Bank is seeking a hands-on, player-coach Director of Portfolio Management to help lead its Real Estate Finance portfolio-management function. The Director will manage a nation-wide portfolio of performing commercial real estate loans, develop portfolio-management professionals, maintain strong borrower relationships, identify emerging credit and market risks before they become material problems, and use technology, data, automation, and AI to improve loan- and portfolio-level reporting, efficiency, and early-warning capability. This role is designed for a knowledgeable lender who can combine asset-level credit judgment with portfolio-level perspective. The Director will work closely with the Managing Director of Portfolio Management, senior leadership, originations, underwriting, loan closing, legal, servicing, and other partners to turn portfolio information into clear decisions and timely action. The Director will also serve as a strategic feedback loop between portfolio performance and new-deal underwriting by analyzing trends across property types, sponsors, regional markets, and economic conditions and bringing those implications to management to inform underwriting, structuring, and portfolio strategy. Deep distressed-asset specialization is not required; meaningful exposure to borrower issues, modifications, remedies, or workouts is important. We are seeking an individual with the ability to think critically, creatively, and collaboratively to help implement best-in-class portfolio management practices in an ever-evolving environment to support a growing portfolio at a bank with ambitious goals. The position is in Chevy Chase, MD and requires 4 days in office per week.
