Computer Vision Engineer (VIO)

Harmattan AI is hiring a full-time Computer Vision Engineer in Zurich to work on the front-end of its visual inertial odometry stack for autonomous defense systems. The role focuses on frame and stereo matching, camera calibration, obstruction detection, and improving the algorithms for embedded platforms, along with testing and monitoring in simulation and real-world settings. It calls for a master’s degree in a relevant field, strong math and programming skills in Python and C++, and hands-on VIO experience, with industrial product experience seen as a strong advantage. This role suits someone with a strong interest in computer vision and robotics who is comfortable working closely with engineers from different disciplines.

ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a Computer Vision Engineer to contribute to the development of the front-end of our visual inertial odometry (VIO) algorithmic stack. RESPONSIBILITIES - VIO Front-end Algorithm development: - Matching between frames and stereo pairs - Calibration of cameras intrinsic and extrinsic parameters - Detection of obstruction - Implementation and optimization of the algorithmic stack for our embedded platforms - Testing, Validation & Monitoring: algorithms testing in simulation and real-world environments, development of inspection and monitoring tools.. - Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with system engineers, optical engineers, software engineers. Communicate findings effectively to stakeholders. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS - Educational Background: Master’s degree in Robotics, Physics, Computer Science or related field, PhD is a plus - Technical Expertise: Strong mathematical foundations, coding skills in both Python and C++ - Hands-on VIO project experience.
