Senior Software Engineer - Ruby on Rails (f/m/d)

This position involves taking full ownership of specific project scopes from initial concept through to production deployment. You will design and execute proof-of-concept projects to mitigate risks before committing to larger builds, while also developing and maintaining core backend applications. The role requires deep engagement with the legal and procedural aspects of debt collection, specifically within in-court and after-court processes. You will collaborate closely with product teams to shape the roadmap and contribute to high-level architecture decisions regarding scalability, performance, and security. Additionally, you are expected to integrate AI tools, such as Claude Code, into your daily workflow for building, reviewing, and shipping code. The job mandates strong backend expertise in Ruby and Ruby on Rails, which serves as the company's primary technology stack. Candidates should also possess a language-agnostic mindset, with hands-on experience in Go or Python being a significant advantage. Familiarity with test-driven development and continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines is required, along with a history of writing clean, maintainable code. The employer seeks professionals with at least five years of professional software engineering experience, including a minimum of one year working on medium-to-large scale projects. The role is based in Berlin and follows a hybrid working arrangement. It suits senior engineers who thrive in independent, end-to-end ownership models and are comfortable leading technical initiatives within a small team structure.
