System Engineer - Virtualisierung (m/w/d)

Skaylink, a Vodafone group company based in Essen, is seeking a full-time System Engineer to manage its virtualization infrastructure. The role involves operating and evolving Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere or ESXi clusters within a modern data center environment. Daily tasks include planning high-availability solutions, executing live migrations, and performing routine maintenance, patching, and hardware refreshes. You will also analyze and optimize CPU, RAM, storage, and network performance while resolving hypervisor-level issues. Collaboration with storage, network, backup, and security teams is essential for these projects. The position requires solid experience with Microsoft Hyper-V and Windows Servers, along with strong knowledge of VMware vSphere and ESXi. Candidates must understand data center architectures, including SAN, storage, networking, and backup concepts, and be proficient in PowerShell. While experience with Proxmox, Xen, automation, monitoring, Veeam, or Linux is beneficial, it is not mandatory.
