Abode Money is hiring a remote contractor to advise its team on California property tax appeals as it enters the market. The work centers on explaining state rules, county-level differences, filing steps, deadlines, evidence needs, and hearing preparation for property tax protests. This role suits someone with hands-on experience in California’s property tax system, whether from private practice, a firm, or local government, and with strong knowledge of procedures in the state’s largest counties. The company says there is also potential for the work to develop into a longer-term partnership as its California offering grows.

THE ROLE This contract-based, hourly consulting position is ideal for someone with deep expertise in California’s property tax protest system who can serve as a trusted advisor during our early market entry. There is also potential for this opportunity to evolve into a mutually beneficial partnership as we expand our property tax offering in California. WHAT YOU’LL DO As our Property Tax Appeals Consultant, you will support Abode Money’s team by providing: - Regulatory Insight: Clarify state statutes, administrative processes, and compliance obligations for property tax protests. - County-Specific Knowledge: Advise on unique procedures and nuances for major California counties. - Filing Processes: Guide us on when and how to file petitions (TRIM notices, deadlines, evidence requirements), including online versus paper submission protocols. - Hearing Procedures: Share best practices and insights on hearing preparation and protest strategy. WHO YOU ARE You are an ideal fit if you: - Have direct experience in the California property tax system—through your own practice, as part of a firm, or within a local government agency. - Are deeply familiar with county-specific procedures, deadlines, and rules, especially for California’s five largest counties. - Possess an innovative mindset—ready to find creative solutions while strictly adhering to all relevant guidelines. - Are available to consult on an as-needed, hourly basis via phone or Zoom.
