Abode Money is hiring a remote contractor to advise on property tax appeals in Texas as the company expands its home finance services. The work focuses on helping its team understand state rules, county-level differences in major Texas markets, filing steps, and how to handle protest hearings. This role suits someone with substantial, practical experience in Texas property tax matters, whether from private practice, a firm, or local government. It is aimed at an expert who can act as a reliable guide during the company’s early work in the state and may lead to a longer-term partnership.

THE ROLE This contract-based, hourly consulting position is ideal for someone with deep expertise in Texas’s property tax protest system who can serve as a trusted advisor during our early market entry. There is also potential for this opportunity to evolve into a mutually beneficial partnership as we expand our property tax offering in Texas. WHAT YOU’LL DO As our Property Tax Appeals Consultant, you will support Abode Money’s team by providing: - Regulatory Insight: Clarify Texas state statutes, administrative processes, and compliance obligations related to property tax protests. - County-Specific Knowledge: Advise on local requirements and nuances for major Texas counties, such as Travis, Harris, Tarrant, and Bexar. - Filing Processes: Guide our team on how and when to file petitions, including the specifics of online versus paper submissions. - Hearing Procedures: Share best practices for preparing and presenting property tax protest hearings. WHO YOU ARE You are an ideal fit if you: - Bring significant, hands-on experience from within the Texas property tax ecosystem—either via your own practice, with an established firm, or through a role in local government. - Possess an in-depth understanding of county-specific procedures, deadlines, and rules unique to Texas. - Are a creative thinker, able to innovate within the regulatory framework and identify new solutions while ensuring compliance. - Are available for consultation on an as-needed, hourly basis by phone or Zoom.
