Software Engineer

Alljoined is hiring a Software Engineer in San Francisco to help build the engineering systems behind its brain-computer interface research. The role focuses on creating and maintaining data pipelines for very large EEG datasets, supporting physical experiments, and developing tools for analysis and real-time stimulus visualization. It calls for at least five years of production software experience, strong Python and systems architecture skills, and comfort working across infrastructure, cloud systems, and full-stack debugging. This position is suited to someone who likes owning projects end to end and working closely with researchers on technically demanding infrastructure.

ABOUT ALLJOINED Alljoined is creating a future where humans are fully understood and augmented by technology. Our work solves the communication bottleneck between humans and computers by decoding thoughts from the brain, entirely non-invasively. We apply deep learning research to large scale EEG datasets to decode multimedia input, eventually moving to internal thought. ABOUT THE ROLE As a Software Engineer, you will build the infrastructure that allows us to do high quality and fast research. You'll be owning and developing pipelines that process massive EEG datasets and writing the infrastructure that powers our physical experiments and data analysis. You will be powering work allowing for neural decoding technology while working alongside world-class researchers pushing the boundaries of what's possible in brain-computer interfaces. YOU MIGHT BE A GOOD FIT IF YOU - Have 5+ years of production software engineering experience with deep expertise in Python and systems-level architecture. - Have built and maintained high-performance data pipelines for processing and storing massive datasets. - Are comfortable building the infrastructure and front-end tools required to visualize experimental stimuli in real-time. - Have a background in managing entire software stacks, cloud infrastructure, and dependency management. - Are capable of working across the full stack to debug low-level system performance issues or architect new foundational services. - Enjoy owning the entire technical lifecycle of a project, from initial design to production deployment and maintenance. STRONG CANDIDATES MAY HAVE - Experience developing internal libraries, SDKs, or tooling that powers machine learning and computational neuroscience workflows. - Built core Python infrastructure like interpreters, package ecosystems, typing tools, or maintained widely-used open-source Python developer tools with significant adoption - Expertise in Python performance optimization, including experience with Cython, profiling tools, or optimizing Python runtimes COMPENSATION RANGE - $140,000 - $200,000/year - Competitive equity compensation at a seed stage startup While this represents our expected range based on market data, final compensation will be determined based on your specific skills and experience and may be outside this range.
